Music is Good for The Soul

I wish to impart my knowledge of music to children to develop a love of music.

Music is part of our being from the beat of the heart to the rhythm of our footsteps. All children can learn music with each individual learning at a different pace and level of achievement. At whatever level they are able to achieve I feel that it is important for the student to understand and appreciate music and its importance in life.

Teaching guitar gives the child something they can achieve through practice and it give them a sense of purpose. Through learning guitar the student will learn time management, communication, patience and perseverance.  They will learn to express themselves in the universal language of music which they will be able to use wherever or whenever they choose all their lives.

It is the responsibility of the student to practice to be able to improve but it is also my part to motivate my students so they want to practice to be able to improve their skills.

Positive interaction is important with praise for effort always given. With the young children, reward cards and certificates will be given.

Opportunities will be given to the Classical Guitar student to perform in front of a supportive informal audience if they so wish.

Lessons will be tailored to the individual student’s needs and ability. Different teaching techniques will be needed to reach the individual. Some students learn better visually so I would be demonstrating the lesson and techniques to these students, other learn better aurally so with them I would be talking them through the lessons and techniques.

I have a passion for the classical guitar which I will impact on my students so they too develop an interest.

The Lessons will be structured but flexible enough for spontaneous discussions of musical experiences.

The joy of music will be imparted on any student I teach.
